Rug Cleaning Methods
Rug cleaning is done to remove dirt, stains, and allergens in rugs to extend their life. Although carpets are expensive furniture and need proper care, there are some common problems which can be avoided by cleaning your rugs regularly. Common ways to clean rugs include dry-cleaning, steam cleaning, and hot water extraction. To get the best results, you need to choose a cleaning method that best suits your carpet.
The most obvious way to clean your rugs is by using dry cleaning.dye cleaning is an economical way of removing dirt and stains on rugs. Although it is usually used in more extensive areas, small rugs can also be cleaned with dye-cleaning technique. Smaller rugs placed inside a room have smaller sizes to be easily cleaned using a dry cleaning method. The dye cleaning method will not make a room smell bad.
Steam cleaning is considered the best technique when dealing with oversized rugs. Using a high heat steam cleaning process, you can remove dirt, dust, and mite along with the stains. Steam cleaners are widely available at local home stores, or you can even rent one for the job.
Vacuuming a rug before you clean the rug
Before you clean the rug, you must turn on the vacuum so that the vacuum cleaner can penetrate deep into the pile of the rug. Next, you have to empty the vacuum container to avoid the dust, soil, and pet hair from the vacuum and the carpet. Before vacuuming the carpet, you have to make sure that all the pillows and stuffed toys are out of the way as they might cause some disturbances in the rug.
It is also important to remember that you have to dilute the detergent to the correct proportion when using detergent to clean stains. Cutting the detergent will reduce its ability to work on dirt and dust effectively. You should not rinse off the entire detergent after using the detergent to get rid of the stains and dirt. Instead, you can leave a few drops of the detergent to absorb the stain and then use a clean white towel to wipe the remaining detergent from the carpet. When shampooing carpets, make sure that you remove all the loose particles in the shampoo bottle before shampooing the carpet.
If there is a stubborn stain, you can try giving the carpets a thorough brushing with cleaning mops or brushes with mild detergents. Before you start brushing, make sure that all the dirt and dust are completely removed from the fibers of the carpets so that you can reach deep into the pile. Brushing will remove most of the soil, dust, and pet hair from deep inside the stack, and you can use a stiff bristle brush to loosen the rest of the dirt. It is essential to do this carefully as you might be lifting and rubbing the pile. Be sure to keep your mop or brush away from the area where the stain is located. For deeply rooted colors, it might be necessary to use chemical solutions to break up the dirt and take out the paint.
